SCSI-320 to sATA-II RAID Subsystem

The A04U-G2421 provides unmatched RAID functionality with its wide variety of array configuration, maintenance, and monitoring capabilities. The subsystem delivers a cost-effective RAID storage solution.

This new subsystem takes advantage of SATA-II technology enhancements such as 3Gbps (Gigabit per second) transfer rates, Native Command Queuing for Digital Video content, such as surveillance systems, SOHO environments, and entry-level server attached storage.

  • Compact 1U space-saving design
  • Supports up to four SATA-II disks
  • SATA NCQ (Native Command Queuing) support
  • Real-time event notification by a variety of methods
  • 3 year warranty

Reliability

The AV-STOR subsystem supports the complete list of RAID configuration levels, in the form of logical drives and logical partitions. Multiple RAID configurations can co-exist within one enclosure, each with a distinct write policy, stripe size, and optimisation modes.

The adaptive designs assure sufficient throughput for a wide range of applications running on Windows 2000/2003/SP, Apple OS-X, and Linux/Unix based servers; Making it ideal for achiving, business networks, storage consolidation, and other applications.

Availability

The A04U-G2421 provides quiet operation and unsurpassed reliability using RAID sophisticated RAID firmware. To ensure the subsystem's reliability and uptime, the disk drives are redundant and hot-swappable. Two cooling fans supply sufficient airflow.

Serviceability

The backplane-based design elliminates problems associated with cable connections between the controller and drives, and offers a higher level of serviceability

Manageability

The LED panel on the A04U-G2421 provides a convenient way to monitor the subsystem. In addition, the A04U-G2421 includes a number of interface features to keep users constantly aware and automatically notified of the subsytem status. The system comes statard with an Ethernet port for local and remote management using simple telnet protocol, or the feature-rich Java GUI manger software.

Intelligent Drive Handling
  • Media Scan: repairs data stored on bad drive sectors from adjacent stripes
  • Task Scheduler: hands free, pre scheduled Media Scan operation on disk drives
  • Replaces or clones drives showing SMART detected defects
  • Manually clones of disk drives showing defects
  • Verifies data after normal writes, rebuild writes, or Logical Drive initialisation
Adaptive Write Policy (Write-back/Write-through)
  • Optimises writes performance on receiving sequential write requests using the Write-through mode and temporarily disables synchronised cache communications
  • Automatically switches policy to adapt to random or sequential I/O requests
Guaranteed Latency I/O
  • Designed for "no drop-frame" applications such as video streaming
  • Fast return of read requests by generating data from adjacent stripes when a drive fails or bad sectors cause delays

Major Markets and Uses

Avante Digital products are used in server-attached and networked data storage in major industries such as medical imaging, multimedia on demand (MOD), and digital media including video-on-demand, stream editing and more
