The AV-U12U-G4020 provides two SCSI-320 channels that are routed to two dual stacked VHDCI SCSI connectors. The 2U enclosure provides the highest density of data storage available on the market. Reliability

The AV-U12U-G4020 leverages the reliability of SCSI-320 technology to provide rock solid data integrity. The subsystem offers full featured data protection and support for RAID levels 0, 1(0+1), 3, 5, 10, 30, 50, NRAID and JBOD. Its flexible design allows the AV-U12U-G4020 to be connected to single or dual hosts. Data saftey can be further guaranteed by installing an optional battery backup unit (BBU) and uniterruptable power supply (UPS) which can extend the operating time for the entire subsystem during a power failure.

Availability

The AV-U12U-G4020 subsystem comes with fully featured RAID capabilities, and special care has also been taken to ensure that all possible causes of data loss have been eliminated. All critical components including the disk drives, power supply units and cooling modules, are hot swappable within the cableless, modular chassis.

This highly flexible design features two dual stacked VHDCI SCSI-320 connectors for host connections and storage expansion by daisy chaining additional U12U-G4020 subsystems.

Serviceability

This high density subsystem provides space effieciency along with simple, cost effective expandability. You can easily add capacity in single drive increments or daisy chain another AV-U12U-G4020 to expand storage whenever you need it.

The modular, field replaceable units (FRUs) can be conveniently accessed through the front and rear panels to ensure the ease of the subsystem maintenance.

Manageability

The AV-U12U-G4020 is extremely easy to deploy, configure, manage, and monitor via its variety of management interfaces. The subsystem comes standard with an ethernet port for local or remote management using simple telnet protocol or the feature rich RAID management GUI.

The Java based RAID management GUI provides graphical presentations of array components, monitoring windows, and configuration windows. Best of all, system administrators can be constantly aware and automatically notified of array status using any or all of the following methods:-

  • IOSmart
    IOSmart alows for the flexible configuration of logical drives, logical volumes and logical partitions and ensures instant RAID availability via background logical drive initialization. Fibre loops' load balancing is provided within the subsystem. The firmware's embedded inteligent algorithms, such as Adaptive Write Policy and Guaranteed Latency I/O, improve sequential write performance and ensure the fast and continuous flow of data.
  • DrvSmart
    The DrvSmart utility provides an easy way to store data while keeping it safe. One of the main DrvSmart functions, Media Scan, retrieves data from degraded or damaged hard drives and handles low quality drives in both the degraded mode and during the rebuild process. Other DrvSmart features include disk cloning, drive roaming, SMART, transparent reseting of non-responsive hard drives, and RAID parity update tracking and recovery.
  • SysSmart
    SysSmart combines enclosure monitoring and firmware management capabilities in order to minimize the chance of down time caused by hardware failures. The Auto data protection mechanisms are developed to ensure data safety. Other SysSmart functions include the event-triggered and the various monitoring utilities and monitoring approaches combined with the RAID manager. Component status, voltage and temperature readings, and system events are instantly revealed through the manager's graphical interface.
